DIRECTIONS:
From Truckee, proceed West on Donner Pass Road along the North Shore of Donner Lake. As you approach the West end of Donner Lake, go past South Shore Drive and continue up along Old Highway 40 towards Donner Summit. The trail head and parking area is on the left, roughly 1/3 of a mile from South Shore Drive (If you reach the winter closure gate, you have gone too far). You can also hike from Donner Summit down to the parking are. If you do, be sure to park legally near the Pacific Crest Trail trailhead.

DIRECTIONS:
From downtown Truckee, follow Highway 89 South toward Tahoe City. Pass through Tahoe City: Continue south through Tahoe City, staying on CA-89 (West Shore Blvd). Continue South for 17 Miles: D. L. Bliss State Park is located about 17 miles south of Tahoe City, just a few miles before you reach Emerald Bay. Enter the Park: The park entrance is on the left (lake side) of of Highway 89. Once you turn in, follow the park road down toward the lake.

DIRECTIONS:
Take HWY 89 between Truckee and Tahoe City. Turn at the Squaw Valley turn off, which is well marked. Follow the road “Squaw Peak Road” up to the resort area. Look for the fire station on the right and we will meet right in front of the fire station for your convenience and then go and park at the actual trailhead. The trail follows Shirley Creek up about 2.5 miles to Shirley Lake passing gorgeous waterfalls and canyon boulders.

DIRECTIONS:
From Truckee take the Boreal exit off I80, turn left and go under the overpass turn left again and head down the frontage road to the PCT trailhead. From the east end of Snowpark head into medium forest roughly paralleling the freeway. From here we will travel to explore the summit lakes.

DIRECTIONS:
Take the Donner Lake Exit on Interstate 80, about halfway between Donner Summit and Truckee. At the bottom of the off ramp, head North (uphill) about 300 yards to the trailhead where there is a large parking area and kiosks with a map of the area and background information.

DIRECTIONS:
From Interstate 80:
Exit at the Soda Springs/Van Norden off ramp. Proceed East toward Soda Springs/Van Norden on Old Highway 40 for one mile to a flashing light and turn right onto Soda Springs Rd.
From scenic Old Highway 40:
Drive along Highway 40 to Soda Springs and at the flashing light turn onto Soda Springs Rd.
Then, again continue on Soda Springs Rd. for exactly one mile beyond Pahatsi Rd. or 1.9 miles from the flashing light on Old Highway 40. You will see a small “Hoelter Hall Trailhead” sign on the left and a gravel road with an open gate. (If you have driven to the end of the paved road and there is a Placer County Maintenance sign at the beginning of a gravel road, you’ve gone about 0.3 miles too far.) Turn left at the trailhead sign and continue to the parking area at the end of the access road. This brings you to the Hoelter Hall Trailhead which provides access to the Rowton Peak and Pt. Mariah trails.

From Northstar:
Head up Highway 267; look for the Tahoe Rim Trail parking area or a dirt road pull-off after the summit. Cross the road and follow the Tahoe Rim Trail, taking the left spur trail for the final .3 miles to the rock.
